I have an undying urge to organize and clean in the days following Christmas. You know I’m a horrible house cleaner, so when the mood actually strikes it’s best to let me get my clean on.
I’m tackling all the things that have been bugging me but I haven’t had time to fix.
First, there’s the nut issue. Buying nuts in bulk leaves me with a million little bags shoved in my freezer. I never know what I have.
Five bags of shredded coconut, 3 bags of almonds, 3 bags of cashews, and a bunch of other varieties later, it’s clear I have a nut problem. Geez. I know what kind of nut cheese I’m making.
Then there’s the flour and legume issue.
More jars. Nut flours get stored in the fridge, everything else goes in the cabinet.
Brace yourself, this is earth shattering stuff.
Last but not least, I taped cooking conversions inside my kitchen cabinet so I no longer interrupt my cooking flow to run to a cookbook to make sure I’m measuring right.
Jealous? This will really make you drool. I put it inside a sheet protector so it will always stay nice and clean. I know, sheet protectors rock!
I still need to tackle the spice cabinet, but I ran out of time. I’m back at work today.
Maybe I’ll get it done by 2014.
Do you get the organization bug around the new year? What projects have you been tackling? Leave me a comment to share.
Good job! Love the sheet protector!
Yeah – sometimes it seems like a person needs to have one separate fridge just dedicated only to flours and nuts!
Aw, thanks! Agreed! Need.More.Refrigeration. STAT. =)
Thank you for the motivation. I have been wanting to put my flours in jars as well. I get some started and then don’t finish. I’ll keep working on that.
Hi there! Aw, I’m glad this inspired you. It took me about a week to get it done because I had to clean the new jars and dry them first. But I’ve already noticed a reduction in my grocery bill since I know exactly what I have now. Good luck! I’m rooting for you!
